Marvin Homes was founded in Cape Coral in May 1972. More than 3,500+ homes later, we’re still proud to be building in our beautiful SW Florida community.
There is no Mr. Marvin.
The name is actually a joining of two: Maryanne and Vince Talisano, who moved down from New Jersey and founded Marvin Development Corporation in May 1972.
Cape Coral then was a new frontier — hundreds of thousands of platted lots and almost nobody living on them. It was a wonderful opportunity for anyone who wanted to get into the building business.
Our Leadership
Meet Richard Durling
Richard has been at Marvin Homes since 1982. He bought into the company in 1988, took full ownership in 1991, and has run it every year since — through economic highs and lows, hurricanes, and more.
He is the qualifying license holder for every home the company builds, and the broker of record at Durling and Associates. That is, he is actively involved with every single project. At Marvin Homes, you are not handed to a sales team and then to a stranger with a clipboard — Richard is with you through the entire build.
His approach to custom home building has been widely celebrated by the community. Under his leadership, Marvin Homes has earned 48 awards for its contributions to home building in Florida. Richard himself was inducted into the Florida Housing Hall of Fame in 2008. He continues to lead, building upon decades of expertise to bring more beautiful homes to Southwest Florida each year.

A house is not made in a factory. Every one is assembled by people, on a site, in the weather. That is exactly why the relationships behind it matter as much as the materials.

We have worked with the same leading subcontractors and suppliers for decades, which is what holds quality, pricing and scheduling steady when the market is not.
On site, our own supervisors are present at every step. Your project lead acts as your eyes and ears on the site, and is required to send you weekly updates with current photographs — transparency is part of our commitment to each of our clients.
